Mindfulness meditation practice

  • Sit or lie comfortably, gently bring your attention to the sensations of breathing, the feeling of the air moving in & out. Notice the sensation of the breath changing from an inward to an outward breath & back again. Notice the movement of the body to accommodate the air.
  • When the mind wanders notice with curiosity & kindness, where it has gone & gently re-focus on the breath.
  • Listen to the sound of the breath, listen for other sounds. Try to hear every sound that occurs, moment by moment.
  • Gently bring your attention to the sensations in the body. Notice the toes & feet, the legs & hips, the abdomen & spine, the chest, the shoulders, the arms & hands. The whole of the spine, the neck, head & face. Notice the air moving in & out of the body.
  • Be aware of the space you are sitting in. When you are ready, open your eyes.
